Education Benefits and Incentives

  • Education Benefits

    • State Tuition Assistance Program (STAP): 5 free classes per semester at any RI state college.
    • Federal Tuition Assistance Program (FTA):  Up to $250 per credit hour, no more than 16 credits per year funded, no more than one credential may be funded.
    • GI Bill:
    • Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) – Chap 1606: 359.00 per month as a full time student (No Active duty time).
    •  
    • The Post 9/11 GI Bill – Chap 33:  Available percentage based on number of months active time.
  • Incentives

    • BONUS: Under 13 years time In service, E7 and below, has to be in an MTOE unit or Medical TDA, not currently flagged.

               6 Year Extension= $12,000

               2 Year Extension= $ 4,000.

     

    • Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP): up to $50,000, under 16 years time in-service, E7 and below; has to be in an MTOE unit or Medical TDA, not currently flagged 6 year extension, and must have existing student loans in good standing prior to the contract start date.
